We are currently preparing for the 2024 Legislative Short Session, and we continue to engage with our constituents to learn more about the issues impacting Onslow County.
Please take a few minutes to read our newsletter below, which contains updates on some of the things we're doing to serve you both at home and in Raleigh.
Our office remains open as a resource to help you should you have any questions or need assistance with state government agencies. Thank you for your continued support and prayers.
At your service,

North Carolina Senator
New Year, New Laws
As the clock struck midnight on January 1, 2024, these new laws took effect. I was proud to vote for these bills in the NC General Assembly and am confident they’ll benefit the people of our state.
Lazzara earns "Defender of Public Safety" award from NC Sheriffs
"It is a tremendous honor to receive this award from the NC Sheriffs' Association in recognition of our work to support law enforcement and enhance public safety," said Lazzara, "Together, we will continue working to overcome the fentanyl crisis and ensure law and order prevails in our communities."
Studying the privatization of NCDMV
This study is not merely a bureaucratic exercise; it is a step towards a more efficient, customer-focused DMV. We have an opportunity to lead the way in reimagining how state services can be delivered in the 21st century. It's time to move beyond the status quo and embrace a model that saves time, money, and frustration.
Recognizing Jacksonville Eagle Scout
I’m delighted to recognize a Jacksonville Eagle Scout candidate, Benjamin Mills, who achieved his Christmas wish by partnering with the community — and the Onslow non-profit One Place — to complete his Eagle Scout project. Collecting new and gently used books, along with new bike helmets, Benjamin donated these items to Onslow Community Outreach's 'Christmas Cheer' drive. His efforts resulted in a contribution of 2,000 books and 75 bike helmets, spreading joy and support to numerous families in need during the holiday season. Well done, Benjamin!
