NEWS: Lazzara appointed to key committees in NC Senate

RALEIGH, N.C. — On Thursday, Senate Leader Phil Berger (R – Rockingham) announced that Senator Michael Lazzara (R – Onslow) will serve on several key committees for the 2025-26 legislative biennium, including two chairmanships that highlight his expertise in transportation and infrastructure development.


Senator Lazzara will continue serving as a Chair of the Senate Committee on Transportation, where he will lead efforts to improve North Carolina’s transportation systems and ensure they support the state’s growth and economic development. Additionally, he has been named Chair of the Senate Appropriations on Department of Transportation Subcommittee, overseeing the allocation of resources to meet the infrastructure needs of communities across the state.


“I am honored to continue serving in these leadership roles,” Senator Lazzara said, “Transportation and infrastructure are not just about roads and bridges – it’s about creating opportunities, connecting communities, and fostering economic growth. I’m committed to making sure North Carolina remains competitive and forward-thinking in this vital area.”


In addition to his chairmanships, Senator Lazzara will serve as a member of the Senate committees on Finance, Judiciary, Commerce & Insurance, Regulatory Reform, and State & Local Government.
